BRANDING – What it means and how to define yours!

by Sibyl Smith Leave a Comment

process of forming a brand quote3A brand is much more than your logo or symbol – your brand conveys the reasons why your business exists and what it can provide for your customers.

Your brand is your message, it’s your “why”.

Your brand should set you apart from your competitors and build both a psychological and emotional relationship between you and your customers.  A powerful, well-crafted brand results in business – because customers choose you!

While the foundation of your brand is your logo, it should represent everything stated above.  The rest of your printed collateral, social media and website should integrate your logo(s), color palettes and design elements to effectively communicate your brand.  Branding your business should be a personal experience with a designer who listens to your goals and can then creatively and uniquely represent your vision.

process of forming a brand quote

“True brands are formed from the inside out. You take your entrepreneurial passion and transform it into something that will attract customers you can satisfy. True brands are the best brands, because they are sustainable and are built on the foundation of your entrepreneurial soul. You never have to fake anything with a true brand. Your true brand starts with your mission.” (Jay Ehert)

Establishing your missions statement:
To establish what your mission is, ask yourself, “Why do I exist?”   Create a list of key words that you feel convey what you’d like to accomplish for your customers.  What about your business makes people better?  Create a mission statement that clearly states your purpose – and it does not have to be publicly displayed, either!

“True brands are the best brands, because they are sustainable and are built on the foundation of your entrepreneurial soul.”  – (Jay Ehert)

My goal as a brand designer is to create an intimate experience for each one of my clients.  Thorough questionnaires, interviews and brainstorming sessions lead the way to a clearly defined vision, from which I create a brand that fully represents your “entrepreneurial soul”!
